6. For Sun and dust allergy. Sensitive eyes FIGURE 4 - AMETROPIA
are susceptible to foreign bodies like, dust, (ASTIGMATISM)
pollen, smog, etc. Factors causing dust allergy
include reduced tear film protection (in
conditions like dry eye, faulty lipid, aqueous or
mucin layers) as well as presence of allergens
in high concentration (in smog, sand storm
and motor vehicle pollutants, etc.). Glasses act
as a direct barrier and reduce the exposure to
allergens, sun, dust and other pollutants.
7. For other types of Visual Problems. Glasses
are also prescribed to alleviate visual
symptoms in conditions such as cataract,
glaucoma, low vision, macular degeneration, IF THE PATIENT FAILS TO WEAR
and so on. In such conditions, glasses provide GLASSES, THE PROBLEM MAY
magnified image and thus help patients with GET WORSE OR EVEN LEAD TO
low vision to see clearly.

Some people have a misconception that
if they start wearing glasses, they become
