TROUBLESHOOTING:
A FAST REFERENCE GUIDE
FOR OPTICIANS
Dr Vineet Shrivastava n a study conducted on the complaints regarding

Banswara, Rajasthan are related to the physical fit of the frame. Many
wearers are more likely to tolerate spectacles if the
frame fits comfortably even if the prescription is
slightly awry. On the other hand, a wearer is not as
likely to tolerate spectacles with a poor fit even if the
prescription is correct. The comfort and suitability of
the frame seem to be the most significant criteria for
satisfaction. So when a wearer comes with a complaint,
a systematic approach to identifying the cause of the
problem is required from the wearer. Below are some
of the possible causes along with the probable reasons
with which a wearer can come:
Several wearers are uncomfortable with the frame
touching the eyebrows. This is because the frame
is quite near to the face and the frontal angle is too
retroscopic which increases the pantoscopic angle.
Sometimes the wearer feels uneasy when the
eyelashes touch the lenses. This could be due to the
nose pads being too far apart or due to the narrow pads
or bridge, or the rocking pads on the plastic frames.
This may also occur due to a real temple pull behind
the ear or the frontal bow being more than necessary.
