OPTOGRAPHY ACTIVITIES ON WSD
Conceptualised for optometrists and
students, optography.org is an online
educational resource that offers a wide range different regions, and on the streets of West
of subjects to both learn and share. It has
been designed to raise eye-care awareness,
and help students, readers and ECPs.
Optography.org was set up in 2015 in
Kolkata by a professor, senior optometrist
Gobinda Chandra Mondal, and two of his
students, young optometrists and co-
founders Md. Zakaria Midya and Ayan Kumar
Bera (the CEO and CTO respectively).
A 36 member team of young optoms

from optography.org made their presence felt
on the ground with their initiatives for WSD in
Bengal in particular. Over a period of 45 days the
team interacted with more than 2000 people
and spoke to them about eye care, eye health
and the role of optometrists. On 14 October they
were at one of the biggest Durga Puja pandals
delivering a speech on this subject.
In addition to its success in reaching out
with its messages to the common man in the
physical world, members of Optography and the
students who joined them also benefited greatly
from their ground level experience.
