Lotus Eye Hospital and College of Optometry
          in Mumbai organised several outreach
programmes for children. As road safety and
good vision for those behind the wheel is crucial,
LEH also held screening camps for drivers.
Vision screenings were held at schools in
Vile Parle, Andheri, and Palghar district. These
were organised with all hygiene protocols in
place. The team members were wearing PPEs
since children have not yet been vaccinated.
They were examined in small groups spread
throughout the day at the camps organised
by the Rotary Club of Bombay Seacoast.
Of the 542 children, 98 were referred for
further investigations and 32 spectacles were
          prescribed. Essilor Vision Foundation provided
          support for the spectacles.

150 children in the 6 to 16 years age group
showed that there is quite a lack of awareness.
Optometrists Mumtaz Qazi and Aadya Dave
who had conducted the survey also addressed
the children about good habits and tips on eye
and vision care. This was followed by a drawing
competition on eye care in which patients
          from the hospital’s paediatric department
and children of the staff were encouraged to
          participate. The competition, sponsored by
