          OPTIC ATROPHY























                                             Dominant optic atrophy (DOA), also known as optic
                                             atrophy type 1 or Kjer type optic atrophy, is a rare
                                             but potentially devastating optic neuropathy. It is
                                             characterised by bilateral degeneration of the retinal

                                             EPIDEMIOLOGY & ETIOLOGY

                                               DOA is relatively uncommon, with literature reporting incidence
                                             ranging from 1:30,000 to 1:50,000 in the general population and 1:10,000
