Connecting Ideas to Business Sucess. Empowering Innovation, Enabling Growth

About US

The Indian Optician, is a bi-monthly trade journal based in New Delhi, dedicated to serving the interests of the optical community across India. Our journal has a clear vision: to serve the interests of the optical community at large. We promote all aspects of optics in India. This, includes trade and manufacturing, healthcare and educational initiatives.  In addition, we aim to raise the standards of eye care and ensure healthy sight for all.

OUR FOUNDER

The Indian Optician was founded in 1968 by the late S.L. Kumar at a time when optical journalism was in its early stages in India. With a clear and noble vision, Mr. Kumar sought to promote eye health not only within India but also on a global scale, by supporting the ophthalmic and optometric professions, industries, and trade. His foresight and understanding of the industry’s needs led him to create a platform that provided reliable and consistent news, while fostering open discussions and the exchange of diverse views and information within the optical community.

Under his leadership, The Indian Optician became a trusted bi-monthly journal, offering valuable insights and updates to professionals in the field. However, Mr. Kumar’s contributions didn’t stop there. He was also a visionary pioneer in the field of optical exhibitions in India. In 1978, he organized the first international trade fair and exhibition dedicated to ophthalmic optics, initially called INDOPTICA. The exhibition quickly gained traction, growing year after year, becoming an important event for industry professionals.

Today, the legacy of Mr. Kumar’s work continues through the efforts of his son, Mr. Harish Kumar, who now oversees the exhibitions organized by RSD Expositions under the new title of “In-Optics” International Trade Fair and Exhibition. The event has expanded its reach, becoming a well-known platform in both international and domestic optical sectors, further solidifying the vision Mr. Kumar had for the advancement of the optical industry.

With its rich history and continued influence, In-Optics remains a cornerstone of the optical trade, providing a space for professionals from around the world to network, exchange knowledge, and showcase the latest innovations in ophthalmic optics.
