RAKESH PATEL

OF VISION CARE INDIA

A well-known figure in the optical trade, particularly in Chennai, Rakesh N Patel passed

away on 6 September 2021 at the age of 58.
Although he had been ailing for some time and had been on dialysis for the last 22
months, his death came as a huge shock to the family. He died suddenly due to a massive
cardiac arrest.

The son of Navnithbhai I Patel, Rakesh was a partner in KN Patel & Co., and director
of Vision Care India Pvt Limited. He was also the president of the Madras Opticians
Association, a post he had held since November 2019, and was active in various social
and religious organisations.
Rakesh Patel had been in the optical trade for 42 years. At a young age, he joined the
family business that had been established in 1956 and run by his grandfather and father.
Manufacturers, importers and exporters of ophthalmic glass and lenses, the company
are also into marketing of ophthalmic and optical instruments and contact lenses.
Since his untimely passing, Rakesh’s brother Lomesh has taken over the reins and
is now running the business.

The Indian Optician joins Rakesh Patel’s many friends and business
associates in extending our deepest condolences to Lomesh and the other
members of his family.
