ommunity service is a fundamental part of
the Sitapur Eye Hospital’s (SEH) educational LOW VISION PRESENTATION BY FACULTY
Cphilosophy including at its School of
Optometry which is located within the campus,
in the town of the same name, about 90 km from
Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.
The SEH and its educational wing work to benefit
all members of the community and simultaneously
upgrade the skills of its students through qualitative
strategies and advocacy programmes. As part of
these objectives, training workshops, eye camps,
and promotional events are held on a regular basis.
The most recent was a Low Vision Awareness
drive for the public, and workshops for students of
optometry, held during the end of February 2021.
The low vision workshop focused on hands-on
practice and the criteria for referrals. It also had 91
external students as participants.
The programme, conducted by paramedical
head Unnati Vaish and Preeti Singh, included direct
interviews with the optometry students to ascertain
their levels of knowledge, and the facilities they had DEMONSTRATION
