RM: I fondly remember my granddaughter's for the sake of money. It is important to note
wedding in 2008 when more than 200 opticians
from outside of Mumbai graced the occasion. It
gives me immense pride that so many people
came to bless the young couple. I have been
blessed by the Almighty that I have seen my
family's fourth generation. In the absence of
my wife Sharda, my children have been taking
utmost care of me in every aspect of my life.
This shows that my teachings to my children
have paid off.
TIO: We salute our elders who are far
more experienced and truly make the best
teachers in the world! Please say some inspiring
words of wisdom for the future generation/or
for our readers.
RM: Even today, I ask my children to follow
the same principles of honesty, hard work and
respect for all. I wish that anyone entering this
trade is fair in all practices of business. It is not
worthwhile to lose one’s reputation and goodwill

that I came here with nothing and they already
have everything. I also believe that the staff
must be treated as one’s own family so I
strongly tell my children to make sure that
their payments are always on time without any
excuses or delays.
I always tell my grandchildren to live their
lives with respect to their earning and not
overburden themselves in the name of luxury
and avoid any unnecessary expenses.
TIO: Lastly, how would you like to be
remembered?
RM: I would like to be remembered as a
person who helped everyone in the industry
with fairness and honesty. I’d want everyone to
know that even a small, down-to-earth man can
make a difference in the industry. I want people
to look up to Alankar with respect and consider
it to be a good business house.
