Revisiting its extensive archives, the brand selected some of them, now interpreted in the latest acetate materials and colours. Many different models form part of the collection introduced in the second half of last year. A contemporary, fresh twist is infused into the original shapes with chunky acetates and exciting new tones in sunglasses and optical frames.
A classic sporty design from 1985, the Bill model makes a comeback in a new avatar. The double bridge acetate frame RB 2198 comes in eight colours from total black to combinations such as bi-layered blue and Havana with gradient and polar lenses.
Making an equally strong statement is the bold Blair RB 2196 in two larger than life sizes. This updated model from 1970 – probably regarded as futuristic then – flows almost lyrically with soft bevel contours in its wrapped, straight-top profile. A walk down memory lane for those who tasted cutting-edge fashion in that decade, its contemporary look would appeal at once to today’s young as well. The acetates are presented in seven colours: new Havana tones, bi-layer frames and striped grey, with polar or iconic gradient blue shades.
A classic from 1969, Mr Burbank is cool as cool can be with new fade-out tones, heritage textures, colourful shades and bar rivets. The rectangular frame in the shape of the Wayfarer, RB 2283 is offered in two sizes and new colours such as transparent grey fade-out gradient acetates, colourful or classic Havanas and striated tones with polar or coloured lenses.
The petite and feminine Lady Burbank RX 5499 optical frame from the ‘60s is in contemporary new transparent gradient acetates. Amber, tortoise or Havana and polished black frames show pressed metal hinge pins in a throwback to its vintage origins.
From the same decade, Miss Burbank RJ 9099S marks her appearance in two sizes, for teens and kids. The cat-eye shape sports vintage Ray-Ban bar rivets. Six frame colours include new fade-out gradients, graphic black or white and Havana textures, fitted with solid lenses.
The Julie ‘80s style shows a small shape and high-set bridge. The classic wire-frame designs, optical (RB 3957V) and sunglasses (RX 3957V) come in new antique metal frames, the latter with amber, grey and dark polar lens shades.
The classic round metal wire RB 3681 sunglasses in classic gold or black comes with the latest in Evolve lens technology. Its six coloured lenses change tone as the light intensity increases, from bright yellow to the original ambermatic lens, light blue or a soft green.
Hot fashions from the ‘70s and ‘80s span classics of hippie-chic to urban smart, sophisticate to intellectual. Check out iconic round RX 3681 in new metal tones or classic ones. The sporty street-style optical design, State Side RX 4356V, crafted using advanced tri-injection moulding technology, is available in five colour combos.
An optical version of the classic teardrop Vagabond stands apart with its sleek silhouette. The RX 4355V reinterprets the original sporting legend Ray-Ban design. The latest vintage racing model is a lightweight, tri-injected pilot in five exciting colour combinations from classics to trendy transparent.
Ray-Ban is a proprietary brand of globally renowned Luxottica. The company, a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of fashion, luxury and sports eyewear, holds a portfolio of major names, both proprietary brands and licensed ones, available in more than 150 countries.
