OPTO-I-MEET-2022 was organised by the UP Optometry Association (UPOA) in collaboration with the Department of Paramedical Sciences, School of Nursing Sciences and Allied Health, Jamia Hamdard University on 22 and 23 September 2022. The conference, arranged under the aegis of the Indian Optometry Federation (IOF) and the Indian Optometric Association (IOA), was held at the Jamia Hamdard Convention Centre in New Delhi.

NITIKA KUMARI HOSTING THE INAUGURAL SESSION
The event was inaugurated by Dr Rajneesh Sahai, director, National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization, who was the chief guest. He was joined by Prof (Dr) Vishnu Swarup Gupta, head-department of ophthalmology, Hakeem Abdul Hameed Centenary Hospital (HAHCH); and Dr Kuldeep Raizada. Dr (Maj Gen) TS Ahluwalia, head of ophthalmology, the National Institute of Medical Sciences, Jaipur, was the guest of honour.
Prof (Dr) Manju Chhugani, dean, School of Nursing Sciences and Allied Health (SNSAH), delivered the welcome address. She was followed by Dr Gaurav Dubey, the event’s organising secretary, who presented the theme of the conference, ‘Love your Eyes’, in a lucid manner.
The conference was very well attended with about 400 delegates from across India and participants from 20 universities.It was packed with 18 concurrent sessions that offered incisive and insightful discussions on various topics, presentations of well-researched scholarly works, five workshops, poster presentations and valedictory sessions.
The participants got the opportunity to interact with academicians, scholars and experts from all over the country.
As many as 36 speakers delineated different super-specialities of eye care. The inaugural session was conducted by Nikita Kumari, faculty member of Jamia Hamdard and the opening scientific session by Malika Abbas and Daniya.
The workshops were on scleral contact lens conducted by Gagan Sahni, myopia control by Vikas Chaturvedi, soft contact Lens by Pushpendra and Gaurav Pandey, ocular prosthesis by Ravikant Sharma and vision therapy by Puneet. There were also 16 student presentations and 24 poster presentations.
Awards in different categories were presented to 14 professionals and nine students. The conference concluded with a thank you address by Ms Vibha Kumari, assistant professor, Department of Paramedical Sciences, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi.

It was undoubtedly a huge success thanks to the strong turnout and the guidance of the vice-chancellor Prof (Dr) Mohammad Afshar Alam, the stewardship of Sanjay Mishra, the event’s scientific committee chairman, and the efforts of the entire organising team led by Prof (Dr) Manju Chhugani, dean of SNSAH, Ms Vibha Kumari, chief organising secretary, and Dr Gaurav Dubey, organising secretary, committee members and volunteers.
Among the others whose efforts were lauded were coordinators Jamshed Ali and Nikita Kumari, and Momin Khan, the conference finance secretary.
