The latest eyewear from Arnette, an eco-friendly brand from the EssilorLuxottica Group, is a collection conceptualised in collaboration with Zayn Malik, the hugely popular British pop and R&B singer. The outcome of the artistic tie-up, with the rather catchy Art-World appellation, is an innovative modern art take with bold, abstract colours as its inspiration.
Drop 3 of Zayn’s artistic association with Arnette is once again in line with the brand’s focus on sustainability. Its experimental creativity and vivid hues reflect contemporary art with celebratory joie de vivre. Arnette is known for its street culture attitude, shown to advantage here once again in this third Zayn x Arnette capsule. Classics are reinvented with quirky reinterpretations that make them great fun, from a retro-square shape with unanticipated angles to fresh looking havanas, in combo colours that sure look to be the latest trend-setters, for the young in particular. The new mineral bio-acetates and expected sustainable packaging stay true to the brand’s philosophy of being kind to our planet.
The Poll-ock – AN4303 style sunglasses are in a class of their own with rocking pop colours that bring out the best in the profile with its slightly cheeky angles.
These new custom bio-acetates including a choice of stylish crystal frames are fitted with yellow and dark lenses or new blue-purple mirror ones.
The retro square optical frames of the Poll-ock – AN7211 too vie for attention with their colour-flecked havanas or sprightly crystal.
These too have been crafted in new sustainable bio-based acetates.
Arnette follows sustainability initiatives through the use of recycled and eco-friendly materials to minimise its carbon footprint. The company’s green innovations extend from its frames to its packaging.
The brand has been using bio-acetate, a premium, eco-friendly material, in its pinnacle collections since 2020. This material is recognised by international standards and regulations as bio-based in a percentage range between a minimum of 50 to a maximum of 68 per cent. The brand’s bio-based components of its bio-acetate are from renewable sources such as fibres from seeds and woods. The bio-acetate parts of its frames are both 100 per cent biodegradable and recyclable.
Over the past nearly four years, all the plastic parts have been made using GRILAMID BTR 600 LS, a bio-based synthetic polymer. This innovative material has been defined by international standards as “bio-based”. Ecologically produced from plants and bio-mass energy, it has a bio-based carbon content of around 56 per cent (castor oil).
All Arnette styles are fitted with bio-based lenses that maintain the same features as traditional lenses. These are in bio-acetate that is made of TR XE 4205, a bio-based material made of 39 per cent bio-components. Interestingly, the bio-based elements come from renewable sources such as castor oil.
Attention is also paid to the total emission of climate-damaging gases during the whole manufacturing process of the polymer and its precursors that can be reduced by up to three-fourths depending on the product. All these initiatives work together to reduce negative impacts on the environment.
